FIRST Robotics Print E-mail

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology: FIRST Robotics is an example of an extracurricular enterprise that exercises and entertains the minds of millions of high school students world-wide.

Between 1992 and now, the FIRST of the year has meant more than the dawn of a new year, it has meant a new game and a new chance to compete with peers in a challenging and electrifying environment. From the beginning of January to the middle of February, students work nearly every day before school, after school, weekends, and any other times that are available to build, wire, program, and test a five foot tall 120 lb machine.

On the cutting edge, FIRST Embraces Technology like no other high school engineering program out there. During the six weeks of build season, students are given the opportunity of a lifetime to Educate themselves and others in a professional environment. With teams from all over the earth, FIRST is helping to Empower the World by providing thousands with the resources to make something of themselves on a macrocosmic scale. Imagination and Innovation are what make FIRST Robotics the challenge and reward that it is. One could almost call it Imaginovative…

Week Three Update Print E-mail

FIRST team 1646 has made it to the half-way point this build season. In the third week, the mechanical team worked hard cutting pieces and welding the chassis. The programming team has our camera working so that it can see the reflection of the light, and we are quickly making our way to having a camera that will line up our shots for us. Our PR team started our chairman's video and set up a meeting with mayor Tony Roswarski. As a whole team, team 1646 went to the design review on Tuesday at Purdue, where we got a lot of good advice from other teams in our area and tried to help them all out to the best of our ability. Also, we set up at the Jefferson High School vs. Central Catholic basketball game on Friday, where we sold Hex Bugs and discout cards, ran last year's robot for people to see, and held a contest for people to guess how many gummy bears were in a jar. FIRST team 1646 has had an extremely productive week, and we hope to continue our productivity through the second half of build season.
